The Barr Brothers Providence Concert reviews
Iron Maiden?
How refreshing it is to go to a concert with the excitement of hearing some truly classic songs played live by the masters that made them famous, only to tease you with one or two remotely recognizable songs. Really The Barr Brothers is one of the few bands that can take 30 years worth of material, distill it down to 40 or 50 really great tunes and then not play a single one of them in concert. If you are like so many people who can't stand it when you go to a concert only to have a band play only their supposed "hits" and songs you actually know, you will love seeing The Barr Brothers. Pure genius. It's as if they are saying, "Heck, we know these songs stink. But we get so tired of playing the same old hits night after night. If you want to hear the good songs, you could have saved $75 and just sat home and listened to your IPOD." Cutting edge. The only thing, really, that could have improved this performance is if they had paid proper homage to their BEST material by celebrating the 15-year anniversary of "The X Factor" album and playing it in its entirety.
